Abiator's MAGIC LESSONS

Find My Card

Effect:
The magician deals out 3 piles of 7 cards.
The magician then shows them to the spectator and gets the spectator to select a card.
The magician gathers all the cards up, deals them again, and has the spectator say which pile the card is in.
The magician repeats the process.
The magician then says to the spectator, "Deal the cards by spelling out the magic words 'Find My Card.'"
The next card dealt is the spectator's card and the magician never even saw what the cards were!

Setup: A deck of cards, otherwise it's 100% impromptu.

Performance:

  1. Deal from a normal pack, 3 piles of 7 cards. Make sure you deal one card to each pile at a time!
  2. Ask a spectator to select any pile.
  3. Show them all the cards in that pile. Have them select one.
  4. Put that pile on top of one of the other 2, then put the remaining pile on top of the spectator's pile (the spectator's pile should always go in the middle).
  5. Deal the cards out into 3 piles again. Show the spectator each pile until he/she sees his/her card.
  6. Again, put that pile in the middle of the other two piles, and deal the pile into three again.
  7. Show them the cards once more, and put their pile in the middle.
  8. Deal 10 cards down (counting out the number of letters in the phrase "Find My Card") onto the table, the 11th card will be theirs, so flip it over.
Tips:
Not much needed here, just make sure you know the steps before you try it. The great thing about this trick is that you never actually see the cards, and yet you still find their card.
