Top School Experience

I went to the Top School Competition on the 7th of March, 2004. It was held at Glover Park in St Heliers and I had lots of fun.

I was in the Parnell D group with Jared, Ollie, Ben and a few more.  Lots of schools attended so I started to feel nervous.

We all had to wear school uniforms for easy identification.

When the real thing started, I went with my team to our first activity which was the Gumboot Throwing. There was a sound which meant "start", so we all rushed throwing the gumboots towards the target cone so we could earn points. We relaxed a bit because we were in the lead, but when the time ended we lost by one point.

We had lots of other activities such as Mine Field, Husky Run, Slippery Slide, and Sponge Fun.  My favourite was Husky Run because it was fun pushing and riding on the sled.

The activity I disliked the most was the Slippery Slide because I forgot to bring my togs so I went on in my shorts.

After the activities it was prize-giving time. I thought we wouldn't win but, surprisingly, we came second and got a silver medal.
