Escape from Afghanistan

An assignment based on an article from NZ School Journal 4:1:04, photographed by Sunday Star Times, written by Pat Norton.

The article examines the experiences of an Afghan family as it flees war-torn Afghanistan, across half the world to the Pacific Ocean where they, along with hundreds of other refugees, attempt to enter Australian territory, are refused, and hang in limbo until New Zealand agrees to take them.

This assignment is based on the QAR ("Question-Answer-Relationships") strategy for reading comprehension Raphael 1982, 1984).
There are four types of QAR: In the book (RIGHT THERE), In the book (THINK & SEARCH), In my head (ON MY OWN), In my head (AUTHOR & ME).
