Now, what is a SIMILE?
| Basically, a simile is where we compare things and point out what is SIMILAR about them. |
KEY WORDS are often: like, as, similar to and others.
For example, in this sentence:
Another example of a simile is this: "Joe is like an old bull", where "like" is the hint that this sentence could be a simile .
We are comparing Joe to a bull and saying they are similar. Therefore, this sentence is an example of a simile.
"He is as cunning as a fox" , the word "as" is a good clue which hints that this sentence could be a simile.
We are comparing someone to a fox and we are saying they are both cunning.
Therefore, this is an example of a simile.
