 | - The Forest River was important because it was the main trading route between the Men of Lake-town and the wood-elves of Mirkwood.
- Check your version of The Hobbit!!! The most common of Tolkien's own pictures showing the escape from the wood-elves' palace via riding barrels down the Forest River shows a rising sun. Another picture shows this scene happening at night. The text says the barrels arrive at the huts of the Raft-elves when it is dark.
- What are Raft-elves? Who knows? If you know, please email me!
